Menstrual awareness class conducted by chmm nss unit

Today we got a opportunity to attend informative and empowering menstrual awareness class organized by the NSS (National Service Scheme) unit of our chmm BSW students. The session was conducted with the aim of promoting awareness and breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation.

The class took place in a cozy classroom, where participants gathered with a genuine curiosity and eagerness to learn. We were warmly welcomed by the NSS volunteers, who had prepared an engaging and comprehensive presentation on the topic.

The session began with an introduction to menstruation, covering both the biological and emotional aspects. We learned about the menstrual cycle, the physical changes that occur, and the hormonal fluctuations that accompany it. This knowledge was crucial in understanding the importance of menstrual hygiene and regular practices.

Next, we delved into the common myths and misconceptions surrounding menstruation. The volunteers skillfully debunked widely-held myths and emphasized the significance of destigmatizing periods. They encouraged open dialogue and discussions, inviting questions from the participants. The interactive nature of the class allowed everyone to comfortably engage in conversations and share their thoughts and concerns. They also shed light on the associated environmental concerns and encouraged the use of sustainable menstrual products.
Furthermore, the importance of self-care and being supportive towards individuals experiencing menstruation was highlighted.

The session concluded with a question and answer segment, where participants could seek clarifications or share personal experiences. The atmosphere was one of openness, empathy, and respect, allowing for a safe space to discuss a topic that is often considered taboo.

Overall, the menstrual awareness class conducted by the NSS unit was a profoundly enlightening and empowering experience. It not only dispelled myths but also instilled a sense of acceptance, empathy, and understanding towards menstruation. The session served as a step forward in breaking down societal barriers and promoting a healthy attitude towards this natural bodily function.
